The 3 Nations Dementia Working Group was active at this year’s Dementia Congress in Brighton. We had an exhibition stand to promote our group and to sign up new members.
We also held a symposium as a side event, with several members of the steering group, and Teresa Davies (Dory), speaking to around forty people about a variety of subjects.
Steering group members were also involved in other sessions, including plenary Q&A and Dementia Diaries Live.
Our overall impression was that while local and national commissioners were absent, those who were are growing in confidence to speak out and challenge, and that people living with dementia are taking an increasing role in leading events like Congress.
We will be submitting abstracts and hoping to play a major role in next year’s Congress.
